(Note: Donations through paypal are transferred immediately — while purchases through Payhip are transferred only a few times each year).

Not only will be the author be eternally grateful for any kind of financial support, these funds will go back into the project to pay future contributors and artists. Although I (Hapax Legomenon) authored all the content for Volumes 1 and 2, in fact several artists who contributed art already received a (modest) form of compensation.

Where Your Donation Goes. First, this donation goes directly to Hapax Legomenon (through the Personville Press account). I’d love to invite a lot more contributors (both authors and artists) for volumes 3 and beyond. Certainly I can offer these contributors a fair portion of future ebook earnings, but the best way to attract top-quality content is to offer them something in advance as well as a percent of overall earnings. This is especially true for visual artists and photographers who are reluctant to contribute anything without being first paid in advance. That (alas) is a fact of life.

Frankly, not being able to sell Existential Smut 1 on Amazon or Apple has been a major obstacle (not to mention a disappointment). Sure the commercial distributors listed on the Purchase Ebook page provide excellent customer service, but unfortunately not distributing through Apple/Amazon makes it a LOT harder and more expensive to promote the ebook.

One way to solve the marketing problem is to let readers download the ebook for free and decide to support the author by purchasing a legal copy or clicking the Donate button. Perhaps only a fraction of downloaders will end up buying or donating. I honestly don’t know.
